Caption: It's SD40-O'Clock at West Toronto as three of CP Rail's many GMD SD40-2 units pound the diamonds heading westbound on the North Toronto Sub, crossing the double track mainline of CN's Weston Sub and the CP MacTier-Galt connecting track. CP 6032 (flying white extra flags) leads 6030 and another unknown 6000 on the north track, while further back on the south track past Osler there appears to be a local freight approaching, lead by an SW1200RS.
The old West Toronto diamonds here, dating back to the steam era, would see many more SD40-2's cross before they were removed after the Metrolinx/GO Transit West Toronto grade separation project was complete in May 2014.

Always wish I spent more time here. I did go once! Got a couple good shots!
Back in ’87 I was working in Car Control at Lambton. One of the duties was to do a physical yard check of West Toronto. I used to do it then walk down to the diamonds and sit on one of those yellow boxes to get a pull-by check of the Transfer. One day a CN cop came along and threw me out. I explained I was the Checker. He had none of that, so I had to walk back along the street. Had to explain to the yardmaster why I didn’t get an inbound check of the Transfer. All I knew that it had 8921 in the consist.
