One of the fringe benefits of commuting downtown from Vaughan that made it somewhat tolerable was being able to shoot subways all the way down, or just staying onboard until our stop at Dundas (Ryerson) or Union. The old 1970's Hawker Siddeley H4's (with their orange and grey bench seats, and large roof ventilator fans) were becoming somewhat of an endangered species as the new TR subway cars began to show up, so photos of those were always in order while the getting was still good. Dirty TTC H4 5650 trails an eastbound consist at Yonge Subway Station on the crosstown Bloor-Danforth subway line ("Line 2" today) for Kennedy, as a westbound H4 consist with 5660 leading accelerates out of the station on the opposite track for Kipling.

The final H4's retired in January 2012. Most ended up processed into scrap metal at Future Enterprises in Hamilton.
