Another warm spring morning down at Bathurst Street, back when you could still taste the morning smog and haze in the downtown Toronto air. Three GO Transit F59PH units swarm Bathurst Street, right where the Oakville Sub ends and the TTR Union Station Rail Corridor begins: 546 is inbound with Lakeshore West train #454, passing 534 trailing equipment move #E472 (off the Lakeshore line) waiting for the light to head westbound to Willowbrook Yard. Unit 543 also lingers in the background on the High Line bypass, on equipment move #E152 (off the Milton line) also bound for Willowbrook and waiting on a light. One had to be on top of things and know what was coming in off what line to get all the train numbers - I had made an Excel "cheat sheet" with every single train inbound or outbound to Union Station, manually scraped from every GO Transit, VIA and ONR schedule, and was usually able to put train numbers to most consists and equipment moves.

A trio of VIA F40PH-3D units pause on #1 "The Canadian", backing a supersize 30 car train inbound to Union Station (with a 4th F40 on the rear, piloting eastward). It's 8:14am now, and the flood of F59's and bilevels at Bathurst Street would die down by 9am, when the pinnacle event of VIA #1 departing Union Station topped off the morning. One would then depart for the day's other work or educational activities, satiated by an hour or two of the morning action.
