CP on the Owen Sound Sub? Sometimes you just need a bit of luck: I was passing through Streetsville one afternoon and chanced a glance down the CP/OBRY Owen Sound Spur at Mississauga Road crossing - a headlight was visible in the distance! Heading south to the interchange track at Alpha Mills Road for the shot, it turned out it wasn't OBRY;s usual unit, but instead the front of a CP GP9u. Quickly lining up the shot, CP GP9u 8215 and GP38-2 3105 came into view over the grade crossing, working today's Streetsville Turn and coming back from switching the customers at the north end of CP's trackage at Creditview Road. The two units would head down to Streetsville Junction, and proceed to switch the PDI transload facility inside the old wye area west of Mississauga Road. Naturally the weather was rather dour and overcast, (although the grass was surprisingly green for a January winter).

I've heard mention one or both of the CP customers now no longer sees rail service. And of course, the OBRY's operations on the line to Orangeville have passed into history a number of years back. Of the two Toronto-assigned Geeps, GP9u 8215 was lucky to avoid the GP20C-ECO trade-in program and was instead sold to Rail Switching Service. GP38-2 3105 was, as last check, still active elsewhere on the CP system.
