A double-dose of GE Dash-8's greets us on a somewhat overcast winter's day in downtown Brampton: CN train #393 lead by CN C40-8M 2431 and IC "Blue Devil" C40-8W 2455 approach the interlocking at Peel, on the climb up from Bramalea/Halwest to the now-short single track section in downtown Brampton (double-tracking still not completely finished).

This exact spot was the "old Peel" location behind The Brick near Kennedy Road and Clarence, not long after CN moved the interlocking plant a few blocks to the west at Centre Street underpass during the Halton Sub double- and triple-tracking project (but everything still fed through a tiny single track section over the underpass, as the new #1 track to the east was not yet complete). The old yard on the right was once full of autoracks and boxcars for the old AMC Brampton Assembly plant at the south end of the Peel Village Industrial Lead, once located at Steeles and Kennedy (built early 1960's, closed 1992). The busy Highway 410 overpass is visible in the distance.
