VIA number 2 was running over 5 hours late today which allowed me time to get to Sudbury Junction to photograph it. A northbound intermodal arrived and stopped at the south switch. A half hour later VIA number 2 finally showed up on the mainline and made its stop to board two coach passengers. It then pulled forward to make its second stop to detain a passenger from a sleeping car. The train then backed up to clear the north switch so that it could pull south through the siding to allow the northbound intermodal to remain on the mainline. Both trains incurred delays. Puzzling the way CN dispatches trains.

  1. Only the RTC knows for sure. The northbound crew must have had time remaining on the clock. “#2 Slow to Clear departing Sudbury”.
