Caption: Evening "Train-Bus" at Bramalea:
Bramalea GO station was a much simpler place, pre-Metrolinxization. GO F59PH 561 sits on the Bramalea commuter lead, aka "Platform 3", after having just arrived with evening train #269 (Union-Bramalea), the last Georgetown train of the day. A group of tired Brampton commuters can be seen making their way from the underground passage exit to one of the many GO D4500 commuter coaches (probably a 21-2200-series) operating on the "Mount Pleasant GO Station" connecting train-bus, for those wanting (daring?) to continue further into Brampton. The relatively new bus loop here was built in 2006 to accommodate the growing number of GO and Brampton Transit routes servicing the station, including GO's popular Highway 407 bus service to York University (always a hit with the local student residents). The original 1974-built station building is out of frame around the upper right.
From this vantage point on the Bramalea Road overpass, there's nothing really discernable in the "Brampton Skyline" except the long grey low roof of the nearby Ford parts distribution warehouse beyond the Steeles Avenue overpass (that once had rail service, but was all demolished in recent years). The building to the left was one of Kuehne & Nagel's distribution warehouses in the area (that still had its rail siding intact, but hadn't seen a boxcar at its roll-up doors in many years).
Everything here including station buildings, bus loop, platform and shelters, and stormwater pond was demolished and replaced starting in the late 2010's with a larger, more modern "Metrolinx style" station and bus terminal to serve the ever-growing Brampton population.
