The 1416 would have been recently repaired by Ogden Shops (released June 1975), as per the late Bruce Chapman it was on #2 the previous year when the train hit a very large rock near Mattawa and it ended up in the Ottawa River. The rear end was mangled very bad, but Ogden managed to straighten most of it out (you can still see some carbody warping). It also got later (CN-style) F9 grills from someplace.
