Even a cold winter's morning on Bathurst Street bridge never disappoints: three trains at once approach with Amtrak P42DC 103 leading the daily joint VIA-Amtrak #97 "The Maple Leaf" out of downtown Toronto (departure time 8:30am from Union), while GO cab car 237 leads westbound equipment move #456 (off a morning Lakeshore East run, with F59PH 561 pushing) out of the flyunder and back to Willowbrook, with red marker lights errantly left on. GO cab car 232 takes the high line with equipment move #270 (Georgetown line, Bramalea-Union only, with F59PH 522 pushing) westbound back to Willowbrook. Since it's just past 8:30am, GO's Bathurst North Yard is almost full of trains laying over after their morning runs, with the rest deadheading to Willowbrook for their afternoon layovers.

In the distance are more goodies that have passed minutes earlier: Ontario Northland GP38-2 1802 with F-unit generator car 204 and four single-level Hawkers advancing on Union Station for the regular morning "Northlander" train #697, following right behind the nose of VIA F40PH-2 6417 with three HEP cars on #85's equipment move, backing to Union Station from the TMC a few hours before its late-morning departure. We shot all that stuff inbound on the other side of the bridge, and quickly jaywalked morning traffic to line up our shot of The Maple Leaf departing.

Also worth noting is part of York Excavating (now York 1)'s fleet of old "yellow iron" Caterpillar 225, 235 and 245 excavators working on the CityPlace condo development, built on the vacant "railway lands" (former CN Spadina Coachyard). A couple more condos have since been added to the view here...
