Caption: There's more than a few "changing of the guard" comparisons that could be made here, as VIA P42DC 912 sits in VIA's Toronto Maintenance Centre yard with an array of active Budd HEP and LRC cars, as well as three of the retired LRC locomotives awaiting disposal (that the P42's replaced in 2001) including 6914, and five of the RDC cars sold to FarmRail (but stored at the TMC) including 6113. Some of the Renaissance cars and F40's were also lingering around the TMC.
Some stuff here remains in service today, some has since been dispersed to museums, tourist railways or scrapped, and others are on borrowed time due to Siemens trainsets and recent announcements for more new power and equipment for VIA. The ironic part is, the five RDC's (since dispersed between the VIA Historical Society and Waterloo Central) and maybe the Budd HEP cars will probably outlive almost everything else.
