Caption: What's better than one GO Transit F59PH? Twins! GO 553 and 559, part of the same 1990 order from GMD (548-561), arrive inbound at Toronto Union Station with afternoon Lakeshore line train #912. The double F59's were mostly used for weekend Lakeshore runs, but a consist or two would often make it onto the weekday equipment cycle.

Becoming familiar with GO's equipment cycling made it easy to catch triple the afternoon trains in one visit: at the time there was an afternoon equipment change-off for two of the all-day Lakeshore line runs. This consist as #912 would arrive then depart Toronto to eastbound to Oshawa as usual, and come back as #917 only as far as Union Station. Another new consist would be waiting at Union, deadheaded from Willowbrook, to take over from #917 on the adjacent platform. Once the passengers had transferred trains, the new consist as #917 (today with F59PH 560) would depart in service, and the previous #917's consist would deadhead to Willowbrook as an equipment move. The same thing happened with another new consist taking over for train #919 an hour later.

Knowing all this, it was easy pickings shooting the new equipment move inbound from Willowbrook, it departing westbound as the new in-service train, and the old consist departing out-of-service for Willowbrook. Twice, if you wanted to wait the extra hour out.
