Davisville Yard was the TTC's original 1950's maintenance base for the newly opened Yonge Subway line, but by this point in time shared Yonge-University-Spadina line equipment with the larger and more modern Wilson Yard. The H5 cars were strictly operated on the YUS, while the T1's handled the YUS and Sheppard Subway duties. The other two remaining revenue classes (H4 and H6) were assigned to Greenwood Yard for Bloor-Danforth line service with the older T1's.

There were two rail attractions to visit in this area of Toronto: the TTC Davisville Yards from this vantage point off the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail (the old CN Belt Line Branch off the Newmarket Sub, that the city purchased in the early 1970's and turned into a popular walking trail) and the original George's Trains nearby, along Mount Pleasant near Davisville.
