Based on the configurations of these two track units, they appear to be contractors’ machines.
A Harsco Mk IV production & switch tamper and a Knox Kershaw, Inc. KBR 925 ballast regulator.
Looks like a tie pickup train is needed at this location.
To my knowledge, these ties came from 2023 when CN replaced a bunch of ties on the FSJ sub. I was fortunate enough to watch that operation as well. I think that this equipment has actually been working on the siding, as CN wants to upgrade it from what I have heard. I hope they are making it longer to accommodate trains as it is only about 2000ft long. They tore out the switch at the far end many years ago.
