Caption: Eastward woodchip loads from Midway and Grand Forks sawmills bound for Kraft pulp mill near Castlegar dominate on an extra east with CP 3021 + 4211 + 8816 + 5023 (GP38-2, C-424, GP9, and GP35) crossing the Kettle River at mileage 82.7 approaching Cascade on Saturday 1984-06-16. Another 1.6 miles east is another (and much bigger) bridge, the fifth of total five over the Kettle River, then the beginning of a significant ascent to the summit at Paulson Gap and Farron.
