Caption: Clean GP9s CP 8664 and 8502 are shown on Friday 1979-05-18 at Lake Cowichan, assembling a train of log loads from Crown Zellerbach’s Nitinat Logging Division, hence the nickname Nitinat for such moves to Crown Zellerbach’s log dump into the saltchuck at Ladysmith. The E&N depot at Lake Cowichan is to the right and behind my photo perch, and it survives to this day as the Kaatza Museum, slightly relocated from its original spot.

Fantastic image! CP’s GP9’s looked sharp in that paint.
