On January 1, 1981 Canadian National assumed sole ownership of the Northern Alberta Railways which previously had been jointly owned with Canadian Pacific. This slide, processed in January 1981, shows GP9s 206, 211, and 205 ready to head north from Dunvegan yard. These units would be renumbered into CN's 4600 series later in 1981.

  1. This is very nice. Great paint scheme and lighting to complement it. Thanks for sharing, John.

  2. I think this is actually in Grande Prairie, heading in from Rycroft just south of the 100 Ave crossing. The two office buildings in the background are on the south side of 101 Avenue at 99 Street.

The switchstand immediately in front of the lead unit will be the north end of the wye and connection with the CN/Alberta Resources Railway yard.
