![Welcome to Gutah camp ! Gutah is at mile 864 of the former BCR, on the Fort Nelson Subdivision. This picture is looking south towards Fort St John (136 miles away) and Fort Nelson is 113 miles behind me. There is no road access to Gutah and the closest crossing is 60 miles away. Trains "go off and on" here, meaning that one trip ends on paper and a new one begins. This is a way around rest rules that prevent crews form working more than 12 hours at a time. There is a cook stationed here and section crews, train crews can book rest and "go to bed" here, but its not that common. If you do "go to bed" here, make sure it is in the correct car, there is an engineman's car (with the most comfy beds), a brakeman's car, a section car, and so on. After the tragic fatality of a conductor at Gutah (the day after I took this photo) there was talk of building an access road, but nothing has happened as of yet.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/12-0728-200x150.jpg)

![Some times even trains need to wait there turn. Train 478 is just about to leave Fort Nelson and begin the 250 mile journey to Fort St John, but first we must stop at the river bridge and wait for highway traffic to clear. I don't think there are too many other operations like this on the CN system.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/10-0199-200x150.jpg)

![Here is a shot of "the grocery car", It was used to transfer food and supplies from Fort St John to Gutah camp at mile 864 of the Fort Nelson Sub. Unfortunately all but the flatcar portion was destroyed by a fire in late 2012.
