The plan was to catch V98 (Amtrak Maple Leaf) detouring via the Halton Sub.. V98 was lined through Tansley on the south track, with an A434 on the north track. It was a question of which headlight would I see break around the curve first, A434 won out. V98 passed a few seconds after 434's power went by me.

Amtrak Maple Leaf operating as V98 with AMTK 90 at Ash, Mile 38.7 Halton Sub.. Planned preparation work by Metrolinx for the Burloak Drive grade separation project and other maintenance tasks on the Metrolinx portion of the Oakville Sub. between Kerr St. and Burlington West has all VIA trains detouring via the Halton Sub. this weekend.

GIO Railways crew with LDSX 7224 and LDS 269 are coupling up scrap cars onto CN locomotives that are stored in the service track at Mile 7.7 Canal Sub. and destined for SLM Recycling on the opposite side of the tracks. When completed the crew will push out the south end of the service track onto the main uncoupling six CN locomotives, then pull the scrap cars and remaining CN locomotives back north into the service track, uncouple the power, then run light power down the main to retrieve the six CN locomotives. Then proceed to spot the six CN locomotives into SLM Recycling property.

LDSX 6084 is occupying Thorold Townline Road while performing switching duties at the OXYVinyls Canada plant on the outskirts of Niagara Falls. The dark green paint scheme is a nice change for that of sister unit LDSX 6089.

With planned Track Maintenance happening on the Metrolinx owned portion of the Oakville Sub. V75 VIA 914 is taking the leisurely back route though the countryside between Ash and Tansley at Mile 42.2 Halton Sub. on March 24 2024.

With a tired looking leader CN 2516, A435 makes the transition from the Halton Sub. to the Oakville Sub. at Burlington West. The SCD (snow clearing device) in the foreground hasn't seen much use this winter.

Q148 slides by on the south as L580's power is being tied down and tidied up by the crew, having just returned from the Burford Spur. In the background, track guys are using a boom truck with a magnet to transfer tie plates from a gon to bins on the boom truck deck. As Q148 was going by M301 slipped by on the north track. I enjoyed some good company on the platform too.

CN 3210 leads M397 with UP 6243 trailing operating on the south track of the Halton Sub. at Mile 46.0 passing over the location of two new defect detectors, a conventional "Hot Box/Hot Wheel/Dragging Equipment Detector" and an "Acoustic Bearing Detector", neither in service on this date. The access to the new site could use a few loads of granular and some screenings.

Cab Car GO 307 leads a westbound 12 car GO train as it crosses the demarcation point for the Metrolinx portion and CN portion of the Oakville Subdivision at Mile 32.0, very near the location of the former Burlington (Freeman) station. Next stop Aldershot.

A421 emerges from the morning fog at Mile 42.0 Halton Sub.. A heavy fog blanketed the area this morning. The crews knowledge of the road is being put to the test this morning. Signals, signs, structures and other landmarks will be providing additional reference points for the crew in these reduced visibility conditions.

A421 is operating a DP 2-1-0 configuration with CN 2835 CN 3332 and mid-train DPU CN 3232.
