A miserable and wet morning in White River, Ontario finds Ontario's Budd's departing for Sudbury. RDC4 6250 and RDC-2 6215 are assigned the honours for the trip to Sudbury, while in the background train 112-18 sits staged awaiting a crew to come available to take the train east. During this time CP crews based out of Chapleau operated the passenger between White River and Sudbury. A couple years later VIA crews would take over the run to operate the train from the CP crews.

  1. This is great :)

  2. The weather isn’t great, but this is a classic northern Ontario late summer shot.
White River was a jump on and off spot for many young guys going and coming from BC back in the 70′s.
I remember guys getting off the train at 40 below in the middle of winter and hitchhiking the last 60 miles to Wawa, my home town.
So many young teenagers 1st job was working this rail line or the ACR out of Hawk.
