A number of people congregate on the platforms at Canadian Pacific's Orangeville Station, as viewed from a train stopped on one of the tracks out front. The old bunkhouse is visible in the background. The amount of people in attendance, bikes, and camera tripod suggest some sort of special event or excursion, maybe one ORA's early 1970's steam fantrips with restored Credit Valley Railway (ex-CPR) 1057, although the date would probably put it more towards 1973+ (it's possible the given date of this negative isn't exactly correct).

CP's Orangeville Station, built in 1906-07, was closed in 1983 sold to the city. It was relocated off railway property in 1987 to Armstrong Street, where it served as a retail space and restaurant over the years.A new Orangeville Station was eventually built on site in 2007 for the Credit Valley Explorer tourist train, after the old wooden ex-CP bunkhouse the Orangeville-Brampton Railway was using burnt down in 2006. The new station remains on sites today after Orangeville city council ended OBRY operations in 2021 and ripped up the line.

  1. GREAT PHOTO! Love seeing these old structures in their railway use, as most I have captured in ‘retirement’ (thanks for linking to my photo as well).
