Railpictures.ca - David Brook Photo: A true embarrassment of riches on the4 Galt Sub. Thanks to a tip from Brandon Muir, I was able to capture the adventure that was CP 244 and 255. UP 8817, 244′s train had dropped all its cars at Wolverton and was running light to Toronto when the plan changed. At Guelph Junction, it rescued a very late running 255 which made it to the top of the hill before one of the units ran out of fuel. You’d have to wonder how a locomotive would run out of fuel, but it has happened a few times that I’m aware of. I was on the WB Roadrailer out of London when the lead unit quit going up Hyde Park hill. The unit acted just like a lawn mower running out of gas, After we stopped & checked, it was obvious the tank was dry. It was a cold night & we had to have another unit. The westbound ahead of us set off an RS-18 at Glencoe, we stopped there & lifted it using is as leader, long hood forward all the way to Melvindale.
