Caption: A westbound led by CN 2905, EMDX 7219, and GTW 5830 went in to emergency as it passed me at the east end of the station platform. The resulting brake squeal and smoke startled several VIA passengers waiting on the platform for VIA train 73 to arrive. Unfortunately for them, CN 580 was on the south track waiting for the westbound to pass before they could get back into the yard and get out of the way of VIA 73, so things got tied up for a bit. However, it was fortunate for me because I was able to get a good look at EMDX 7219 west of the station. The conductor walked along the first few cars with a brake hose and wrench in hand but soon returned, so I don't know what caused the emergency brake application but the issue was resolved fairly quickly and the train departed.

So that was the cause of some delays to both VIA 72 and 73 ! ??
I was reposing at HARDY for the afternoon, tying to pretend that summer might be arriving. I make this guy to be 397 and the only thing working when he finally pulled by me was the leader.
Just because they’re pretty doesn’t mean they’re good.
If VIA 72 was on time it should have been through before 397. I didn’t see it. At least the air compressor on EMDX 7219 was working when I saw it!
Nice catch. They have come my way via the grimsby sub but i’ve never caught one!
