Add three more GMTX GP38-2s to the CN lease fleet. GMTX 2284, GMTX 2163, and GMTX 2264 were on 148 behind CN 8837 and GECX 7733 today. The GATX units have an interesting history, starting life as Long Island Railroad 274, Cleveland Electric Illuminating 101, and Detroit, Toledo & Ironton 202 respectively. Thanks to Bruce Mercer for helping with the locomotive histories.

  1. I heard they were EMD demo’s…thanks for the update! I plan to model one.

  2. Demos ??
They might look a little ( …) like EMD demos but they’re leased ( for now.)

  3. Some of the GMTX units were formerly EMDX leasers, which is likely where the confusion lies. Much like the Oakway SD60s, they too were often mistaken for demos.
