All aboard before the doors close: Passengers at Yorkdale Subway Station rush to board TTC H5 5736, trailing a Yonge-University-Spadina line train, before the chimes sound and doors slam shut for the trip southbound into Toronto.

The mid-70's Hawker Siddeley H5 fleet (yellow doors, musty air conditioner smell inside, whiny chopper control sounds) was mostly all intact at the time, but was scheduled for full replacement by the new TR trains on the YUS (Line 1). A number were resold to EKO Rail in Lagos (Nigeria) and trucked down to Buffalo NY for refurbishment, until Lagos decided to buy new rolling stock instead and all the stateside H5's were cut up for scrap. Cars not resold were sent to Hamilton for scrap, with the final H5's retired in October 2013.

If I remember correctly, the high contrast black and white shooting style in Francis Ford Coppola's "Rumble Fish" provided some inspiration for some of my B&W subway photography at the time. It fit well for certain scenes and lighting situations.
