All trains were a later than usual this morning. Even Via 97, which managed to stay on time for a while, got nailed by the hotbox detector at mile 18.9 for carrying a good chunk of ice. Here, CN 422 passes Jordan after noon with three locomotives, CN 5603, CN 5553 and CN 5287. Don't believe me? It's okay, I didn't think you would. The nice layer of powder from a lake effect has not subsided since 331 passed earlier. Thankfully, it got a bit warmer. The feel temperature still hovered around -30 however. Thankfully, the actual temperature never got that cold, otherwise all trains would have to restrict to 30mph. The RTC neglected to put any trains on the south track all morning, however, I believe CN 330 used it later that night. 331 and 422 were both very short, and 422's length of 60 cars was especially surprising. Perhaps the long weekend had something to do with it.

  1. When it was 421, it also blinded me at Glenridge, but not as much as 331 who was the first train to use the south track that day. Nice shot!

  2. Thanks! I missed another opportunity this morning at getting some freights kicking up fresh snow. Oh well.
