Another photo from Ray Hoadley in my collection of TH&B X-766 at or near Adams Yard, the industrial east end of Hamilton. The 250 ton Industrial Brown Hoist was used to clean up a derailment in the area. The TH&B crews sure gave this machine some TLC and a great paint scheme.

    Fabulous shot! Looks like it just came out of the shop after a rebuild/repaint. The crane is 30 years old when this photo was taken.

    Part of the reason for its good looks was that it was kept inside its own shed.

    OK crane experts- who can give us some numbers on the three different “hooks” and what loads each was capable of lifting.

    TH&B X-766 is an Industrial Brownhoist 250-ton wrecking crane, serial number 12190, built in 1954.

    It became CP 414651 then went to Northern Plains Railroad in Fordville, ND.

    TMike: From the boom tip down, the three hooks are;

    Whip hoist (optional) 20-ton capacity
    Auxiliary hoist 80-ton capacity
    Main hoist 250-ton capacity

    I’ll forward a general arrangement drawing of the 250-ton wrecker in a subsequent comment.

    Well Paul you know your stuff. Everyone….I think we should lock Paul in a case with a sign that says “break glass only in case of crane information emergency” hehe
