Bearing a banner to mark the event ("Derniere train du passagers du CN, Adieu" and the dates 1923-1988), CN GP9 4422 and three coaches bring down the curtain on 65 years of CN passenger trains on Friday 9 September 1988. While the former NAR "Muskeg Mixed" will continue to operate into May 1989, this indeed is CN's last passenger train. (Little did we know at the time that CN would re-enter the passenger business in the early 2000s, through its purchase of the Wisconsin Central and the Algoma Central!)
