Business car HBRY 800576 Canadian Sunrise (ex-Grand Canyon 2093, exx-CN 22, exxx-CN 90, exxxx-CN 100 Bonaventure) Class PV-79-E Business Car, NSC built in 1959 sits in the Carlton Trail Railway (OmniTRAX) roundhouse in Prince Albert, SK May 29, 2002.
I was in Prince Albert with a new Nordco ballast regulator/snow fighter for the CTR as seen in the stall next to the Business Car, and got so wrapped up in my work that I failed to get a better angle shot of the car or ask for a tour of the interior. :-(
In my two trips from Winnipeg to Churchill and points in between in the past two years, I have yet to spot this car anywhere on the HBR line. News on its whereabouts would be appreciated from anyone. :-)
The roundhouse still stands in Prince Albert.

  1. I can recall seeing this guy on the meadow lake line of the Carlton trail railway in January of 2008 right before it was abandoned, have yet to see it since. but I assume it’s probably on another OMNITRAX line somewhere.

  2. The last photo I saw of HBRY 800576 was taken by Matt Petersen on October 6, 2019 in its new HBRY paint scheme. I cannot find any more information on the car.

  3. Ah that makes sense! HBRY and CTRW did a pretty big locomotive swap in early July of 2008. CTRW gave HBRY 6(?) Ex CN GP40-2lws in return for 6(think it may have been 5) GATX GP38-2s. It was probably during this locomotive transfer when that car was sent over to the HBRY. I remember seeing this guy all the way up in leoville Saskatchewan on the front end of a pulp train. Pretty sure they only took him out there to store him on one of the many siding CTRW had, they made tons of money on storing cars for CN and others.
