Caption: By my blind luck timing in life at getting a vehicle and a driver’s licence, the last full year of Fairbanks-Morse power in southeast British Columbia was seen and photographed, with everyday scenes like this one in CP’s Nelson diesel shop well within reach. Seen here on Friday 1974-10-18 in the evening, H16-44 CP 8609 is over the wheel exchange pit.
My grand plan was to transfer from Victoria roundhouse to Nelson to learn more about the F-Ms, but that evaporated in March 1975 when all Baldwin roadswitchers and most F-M power (except a few H24-66s for Alyth hump duty) were shut down.
