Canadian Pacific P2j-class Mikado 5449 is assisting MLW FA2 4087 on train #953 north to MacTier, shown at CP's West Toronto station before crossing the diamonds via the connecting track from the Galt Sub to the MacTier Sub. Diesel and steam power working together was a frequent occurance at the end of the steam era on CP.

  1. One of this class remains derelict on a siding in DePew, New York. Owner wants $100K for it. Probably will end up being scrapped, which would be a pity.

  2. There are times when one assumes facts that are not true, Ray Kennedy pointed out to me that the subject train could not be 953 asa both engines are carrying white classification flags. Nor is 5449 an assist engine. P2s were never used as pushers. It must be an extra north double heading to Mactier. This was a rare situation and seldom seen.
