I remember those short off-peak “Canadians” in early VIA days. A couple of times I went all the way to Vancouver with only a Skyline car as a diner. In the mid to late 1970s the CPR Canadian was even shorter. The typical consist of the Toronto section (#11 & 12) was baggage, coach, Skyline, diner and one Chateau sleeper. I missed the Park car very much, but at least it always had a diner.
