CN 4713 and 4781 bring the 0700 local down into CN's Hamilton industrial trackage. They are seen about to cross CP's Beach Branch, on which minutes before CP TH31 had passed over. I haven't spent much time in Hamilton and find it to be a fun, and sometimes frustrating, chase as the locals seem to appear and disappear at will down a tangled web of tracks. A big thanks to Jamie Knott for all the information shared about these operations, and to Steve Host, whose informative photo captions have made a huge difference in understanding the overall track layout.

  1. Believe it or not I have yet to do this shot in proper lighting like this! It’ll come at some point. :) Nice shot. Looks like they have some traffic for Parkdale Warehousing and perhaps the interchange behind that. Some of the meal hoppers out of Bunge are interchanged between CN and CP, which those appear to be. Tanks out of Bunge’s EOF are also interchanged I believe.

  2. LOL. I am in no hurry on CN. Glad I could help Craig, I’ve spent my time studying it and can explain most of it if anyone has any other questions.
