CN 5470 brings up the rear of train 580 on their way to Hagersville. On the head end was CN 9615 and CN 2444. Over the last year since CN has taken back the Hagersville Sub there has been a wide variety of different locomotives to cross this bridge...I am certainly a fan of the SD60s.

  1. What is the purpose of 5470 at the tail end? To avoid runaround moves or was it to be wyed at Caledonia? I recall G&W some times had locomotives at either end servicng Ingenia on the Burford spur.

  2. LOL@ Joey, just be lucky you did not have to operate one :-)

  3. Brad, so they wouldn’t have to run around to the train in hagersville to then go back to work cgc

  4. Hmmm, can’t tell if there is an SBU (marker) on the 5470? If they are moving at more than 15mph they need to have one.

  5. There is indeed an SBU on 5470

Also what Jamie said, regarding running the unit on the tail end.

  6. I understand the not running around the train part the Jamie was talking about, just did not see the SBU :-)

  7. Great photo Joe! Nice to see CN running through Caledonia again, although I think you could have “time machined” this shot to a popular calendar cover that had the wonderful old F units crossing. Cant believe that with these bigger units they are still using a ‘pusher’ lol :)

  8. I’m on the wrong side of the bridge for that Todd! But I agree, a time machine shot could be done…I’ve got a few that may work
