CN CS-02 switches a cut of cars outside of the car shop in Walker Yard. I believe this was CN's attempt to reduce maintenance on a locomotive by classifying it as car shop equipment. I don't think it lasted too long. I had thought it was ex. CN 1272 but the Trackside Guide says 1272 was retired in 1995 and sold to Canac so I doubt CS-02 is that unit, unless it sat in storage and/or was CS-02 for years.

  1. Matt Watson confirmed CS-02 was CN 1379 before (and after!)

  2. I don’t want to sound like Wheel Of Fortune, but….there were two CS-02.
The first one was, like you correctly surmised, the 1272. It was renumbered on or after Oct1995. Then renumbered back upon resale to Canac.
The second was 1379, renumbered on or after Apr1999.

  3. CTG says 1272 was sold in 1995 so I’m thinking this is CS-02:2 then. Thanks Bruce.
