CN Z1a-class GE boxcab electric locomotives 6715 and 6710 (built 1916 and 1914 respectively) handle a commuter train with VIA-painted coaches, crossing the diamond with the CN St. Laurent Subdivision at Eastern Junction in May 1995. It was all but over for CN's vintage electric fleet still employed in Deux-Montagnes commuter service, as the remaining units retired a few months later when the final phase of renovations were completed on the line in Summer/Fall 1995.

Lead unit 6715 is preserved at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa, while 6710 can be found on display in front of AMT's Deux-Montagnes station.

  1. Great shot! Eastern Junction is now grade separated since about two years ago with the Deux-Montagnes sub ducking under the St-Laurent sub. Here’s a shot of an MU passing the diamond in 2007.
