CN's St. Clair Ave. Station is pictured in June 1978. This station was built in 1930/31 as a suburban commuter station along the the Newmarket Sub just north of St. Clair Avenue West west of Caledonia Rd. in Toronto (constructed at the same time as the grade separation project going on with St. Clair Avenue). It was destroyed by fire in February 1997, and subsequently demolished.

  1. After it closed UCRS attempted to move in there but got nowhere. It was also proposed to include community space for local groups and events. These were not freebee proposals. Modest rent was offered. After a small fire in which firemen chopped a small hole in the roof to put out the fire, CN refused to repair or even cover the damage. Another fire did it in. Demolition soon followed. Sad!
