In 1971 CP put three geeps through Ogden shops, Calgary and without upgrading them or repainting, simply chopped their noses. The other two, 8633, 8634, remained in red with the multimark, and in the script (respectively). In the later rebuild program, these 3 were completely rebuilt and emerged as 1576 (8633), 1579 (8634) and 1580 (8635). 8633, 8634 and 8635 (the 3 chopped 1970/71) also had their dynamic brakes removed, and hump control added for operations on the hump at Alyth Yard. The three were initially mated to SW1200RS units in GP9-SW-SW hump sets, then to the last 3 Train Masters in GP9-TM sets, then when CP retired them it was GP9-F7B-GP7/9 sets on the hump.
