  1. OK A couple of questions….
    What purpose do the “split” rail ties serve.? Drainage perhaps?
    Why is there a bottle on the short hood?

  2. TMike,

    Yes the ties were set in concrete and then the middles cut out to allow water to run down into the pump stations. Its alot easier to maintain a pump then pull rails out to change ties where there is very little room in the tunnel
