Emerging from the depths of Hamilton's underbelly, SD40-2 5871 with a work train in tow peeks out from the north side of the Hunter St Tunnel. Built in 1895 when the TH&B was permitted to build a line into downtown Hamilton, other than single tracking the once double track CTC mainline not much has changed from this side of the tunnel, aside from the graffiti, litter and other surly things you may find if going for a wander in the grass - here's a hint, don't.
