Enroute back home to my parents home in southern Ontario I would sometimes stop in at the Companion Motel in Hearst to spend the night. The reasoning: because it backed onto the rail yard in Hearst which hosts the local for the ONR on their Kapuskasing Sub (... and Pagawa Spur) and the CN freight and passenger which comes off the Soo Sub.
One night in March 2010 while on one of these long journey's, I grabbed a room at the motel and took a spin to the back parking lot, CN SD75i 5677 idled in the yard next to a pair of ONR Geeps. I went to my room, kicked up my feet and watched some tv. Around 21:00 I heard some squealing wet brakeshoes against steel wheels. I looked out and found the northbound passenger had arrived with CN F40PH 105 had arrived with train 632. I pulled out the tripod and took the camera out to snap a few night exposures. It was a cold, windy March night and flurries were in the air, visible in the headlight of the 105.
