Here is a view looking back at Fort McMurray-Edmonton train 556 composed of sulphur tank's, scrap gon's and coke cars. It's 10:00 and we're nearing the station name sign Devenish at mile 183 of the Lac La Biche Subdivision. The day began at 01:00 building the train in Fort McMurray yard and with just three hours left to cover 70 miles to Lac La Biche, I'm thinking this day ended in a taxi. SD40-2W's 5326, 5317, 5352 were the power.

  1. When I used to photo trains heading for Waterways, the subdivision names were, Egremont (or connecting track) to Lac La Biche as Lac La Biche Sub. Then Lac La Biche to Waterways as the Waterways Sub. I’m wondering, when they abandoned the Coroando Sub. east of Radway, which will have left just a stub from the connecting track to Radway, did they combine the Coronado Sub. from St. Paul Jct. to Kerensky with everything north of Egremont (including the Waterways Sub.)? Then name all that the Lac La Biche Sub? As I already said, I have always wondered what happened to things after the abandonment. The Coronado Sub. was not going to be a money maker, especially when the jet fuel traffic was taken away. The best business is north to Fort McMurray, as you are well aware. :-)
