How can you mess up where this photo is taken? A locomotive, from the Raillink Hamilton-Hagersville, surrounded by steel coils, steel plates, and steel wheels and a Steel mill. Steel. It's a pleasure to still have the opportunity to photograph the Southern Ontario Railway in Hamilton if it is after all their locomotive shop, where SOR motive power will come for work or inspections as needed from Nanticoke. But that's about all you'll find for now..

  1. They sure take an interesting routing to get units from Nanticoke to Hamilton these days too. CN 581 from Nanticoke to Paris. CN 434 from Paris to Aldershot. CN 551 to Hamilton and then whatever local from Hamilton down to Railcare.

To get the units back is a lot simpler, CN local to Hamilton Yard and then CN 331 to Paris for 581 to return.

  2. So three moves versus four? A 25 percent reduction. Its not like they go to London first… I dont see this as drastically different at all.

  3. There has been the odd time that they have gone all the way to London as well. 2081 did that to get to Railcare in your picture actually.

  4. Meh. They used to go direct with a SOR crew :)
