Caption: I’ve always had a thing for GP38’s, while maybe not the most exciting units they definitely deserve their praise for what they have done for the railroad industry. I especially like the less common versions like the GP38AC’s and rare PRSL dual control stand versions. In the end the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines ordered 15 of these units with Penn Central ordered a handful. In the end they all went to Conrail and later most of the fleet split between CSX and NS. As they were non Dash-2 they were later sold off. It was a treat years ago crossing paths with this unit when it first arrived in Hamilton in Railtex paint, lettered NECR 3840. It was later repainted into GW paint and lettered RLHH 2117. Its dual control stand replaced and dynamic brakes added. For a period after CN took back Hamilton operations this unit was relocated to GEXR’s Guelph Junction Railway operations, before being sent out to Stratford. This day the fresh snow made the shot as power awaited the next call to duty at Guelph Junction.
