I thought this an odd sight. CN 4523 with CN MLW S-4 switchers (S-7?) 8171, 8164 and 8167 heading eastward thru Bayview one morning. The series 8163-8195 were being retired 'en masse' around this time, and it got me wondering if these three units were on their "last run"...and heading to Mac Yard. I recall many of them working Hamilton yard at one time but slowly being replaced.

  1. It looks like a unit run..light power with the GP9 pulling them to Mac. Maybe someone else can enlighten us. Another Goodun Mr Mooney!

  2. Great pic..as usual AW!
Definitely could be a light power move. The MLW’s don’t look like they are MU capable so they would have the brakes cut out and moved like a box car and also speed restricted.
