Caption: I visited Ingersoll a lot in my early days of photography. You had the CN mainline which hosted CN, VIA, and NS daily trains, as well as the CP Branchline and OSR Port Burwell at Ingersoll. And just 8 minutes north of town you had the CP mainline. A great place to catch a lot of action and back then every other train had something 'old' on it so a young guy like me could spend the day and catch up without much effort, we just had to take pictures of whatever rolled by. The Exhibit car on this train was for the St. Thomas Railway days, and we knew in advance it was coming (via press releases), we just didn't know exactly when. So when the day came word got out on the Internet and I beelined it with friends for Ingersoll on a very a foggy morning, arriving about 0830 (we missed NS 328 however). After a few trains, the fog finally burned off and NS 327 arrives at 0949 with their gigantic train, and the chase was on. The motive power, a boring Dash 9 would make any American yawn, but it was still a welcome distraction from the usual for us Canadians. Some days, however, the power was Glorious.
