I was watching this crew for a short while as they made their train ready to go. Once they were tied on and had air, this was the result. It was full speed ahead as they left the yard. Like on the cartoons where there is a flurry of heel prints flying behind the character. I'm guessing a customer had been waiting for cars to be spotted. The train was a fair number of cars (30 to 40 range), plus a yard cab at the end. Photo taken at Scotford yard at 13:00.

    Some of the tanks that made up this train were nearly as interesting as the power. 2 old timers on the front and next one of those white low belly LPG cars. All scraped many years ago no doubt.

    During the 70′s, when I worked at Calder yard, they used the wash racks quite frequently. It wasn’t unusual, when passing the shop tracks, to see a string of loco’s going for a bath. :-)
