Caption: It is a cloudy November 30, 1968 in London, Ontario. At the CN Reclamation Yard, CLC road switchers, ALCO or MLW road switchers, and CLC C-Liners are visible. Some seem to be complete locomotives while others are just rusting hulks.
This must have been quite the place to visit. Could you walk the line and shoot it all? Considering the cost of film were you choose about what to shoot?
This was a Saturday morning, and nobody was there. I quickly took a few shots inside the property and then walked the tracks paralleling the line of diesels. Then my friends and I quickly left.
I did take a few color slides and have posted two or three. I might have a few more, but only a few. They are not easily found. Sorry.
Thank you – I understand the challenge of finding images when it’s a physical collection. It’s even hard when it’s digital
Glad you and your friends went for a visit and shared. This place is still there and it’s still basically an empty ‘brownfield’. There are a few buildings and it may still be in some form of use but not seemingly for railway activities. Naturally what was done there makes this site a serious brownfield now that the city has expanded beyond it’s borders.
1968,I was in my 2nd year at cn,s PSC shops , that was the year the FMs were taken in the shop , their engines , generators and TMs removed and the empty bodies sent to london.

How truly sad for for Diesel fans. At least CPR made the effort to conserve a few choice designs.
