Caption: It was interesting when CP presented us with that short-lived spin off called the "St. Lawrence & Hudson Rwy" which dealt with Southwestern & Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the D&H. A few CP locomotives featured this "new" paint and it was well worth following them as the spinoff idea was a rather strange arrangement and I knew it would not be around long. Personally I thought it was part of a plan to separate from the CP on paper to prove the D&H was dragging down the bottom line and so to write it off.
I don't recall, but I think less than 25 units got the STLH paint-over.
Here is STLH 5651, NS 3200 and CP 5630 running eastward, crossing Hwy 2 just to the west of Woodstock.

Stan Laurel and Hardy you mean??
I never understood this either. But, that’s the most disliked paint scheme I have ever seen on an engine. Especially for CP (now CPKC).
However, glad you still documented it. I believe a short time after it was then known and engines were painted in the “CP Rail System” with dual flags.
