It was quite a surprise to find QNSL GP-9 units in downtown Toronto in July of 1982. Seen here is QNSL 157 near Toronto Union Station. Perhaps these were leased or headed to the scrapper? Also on hand that day were QNSL 133, 147, 167 and 169.

Apparently they were owned by a group called “Metro Canada”. They all went north and were stored on the ONR for years until some were sold off. 157 here went to Cando and became CCGX 1000 of BCRY and OBRY fame. 169 was sold to a paper mill up north, and later Savage Rail as SVGX 8701. Two others went to NBSR.
