Caption: One of those unsightly 80's things was the larger Futura-style fleet numbers the TTC began applying to some of its remaining PCC streetcars. Here, TTC 4546 (A8-class, CC&F 1951) heads eastbound on St. Clair Avenue just past the intersection of Bathurst Street, about to head down the ramp into the St. Clair West Subway Station's underground bus and streetcar loop. Part of a newer CLRV streetcar is visible behind, heading westbound on St. Clair.
4546 was retired in 1990 and selected by the TTC to be rebuilt as part of the 23 4600-series PCC A15-class. But, the program was cancelled after only 19 cars, and unrebuilt 4546 was later sold for scrap to Future Enterprises in Hamilton.
